The Los Angeles City Council Wednesday approved nearly $2.7 million to hire an additional 130 Los Angeles Police Department recruits for the remainder of the 2025-26 fiscal year. Council members voted 9-4 to approve the spending, which will come from LAPD’s accounts. Los Angeles Police Department released body cam video of an incident involving the wife of a member of the LA-based rock band Weezer. The footage, recorded on April 8, was released Friday afternoon as part of a department use-of-force investigation. Officers were responding to the residential area in search of hit-and-run suspects who ran off after a crash. Police searching the area for the suspects were directed to a home. The body cam video shows officers shouting, "Shots fired, officer needs
